Cordell Baker, MD

  • About Me

Cordell was raised in Sapulpa, a small town in northeastern Oklahoma. He completed his undergraduate studies at Oklahoma Baptist University where he ran cross country and track. He attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine and became interested in neurosurgery after observing his mentor perform an awake craniotomy for glioma resection on one of his electives. This experience led to his involvement in neurosurgery research, which was focused on clinical outcomes in tumor surgery and connectomics.

    Why Utah?

I knew it was a large program that would offer a good representation of all neurosurgical specialties with a good balance of surgical experience and research opportunity. I did a second look at Utah and really enjoyed the residents that I met at dinner. For me Salt Lake City is perfect, an affordable city that is conveniently located near many outdoor amenities.
