The Utah Family Planning Group is an interdisciplinary collaboration of passionate health care providers, researchers, educators, and administrators committed to elevating the health and wellbeing of our community through essential sexual and reproductive health care, education, and advocacy.
The Center supports and promotes proactive sexual and reproductive health policy and service provision and acts as a regional resource on sexual and reproductive health in the Mountain West by focusing on expanding and improving local contraceptive access and sexual and reproductive health equity.
Mission
The ASCENT Center for Reproductive and Sexual Health advances sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice through research, policy, and education.
The Center supports and promotes proactive sexual and reproductive health policy and service provision and acts as a regional resource on sexual and reproductive health in the Mountain West. The Center focuses on expanding and improving local contraceptive access and sexual and reproductive health equity.
Vision
To fulfill the human right to obtain the full range of sexual and reproductive health services in our state.
The overarching ten-year goals of the Center include:
- Creation of a comprehensive statewide network for contraceptive service delivery, including Planned Parenthood Association of Utah, County Health Department Clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, jails, places of education and other organizations serving communities in need of family planning services
- Expansion of statewide abortion access through telehealth, regulatory changes, and support networks (e.g. referrals, local abortion funds) and state policy change (e.g. removal of restrictions and preventing additional restrictions)
- Passage of proactive statewide comprehensive family planning policies to increase coverage (e.g. expanding Medicaid coverage, Contraceptive Equity Act, prenatal CHIP option for undocumented individuals, Title X, and State Appropriations)
