Welcome to the Team

We are excited to have you! Here you will find all of the resources, links and documents that you need to complete to start working with us. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask any team member or go to your Manager or Associate Director for assistance

    1. Ensure you have access to CIS, which is the University of Utah portal where you can find campus resources. This account should have been created when hired on. If it does not allow you to login, contact the Assistant Director. 
    ​2. Enroll in DUO 2-Factor Authentication via the DUO Management Page. Once logged into CIS, click on DUO 2FA Management and it will walk you through the steps of setting this up. You will need DUO to access all of your accounts everyday. If you are having trouble, call IT at 7-6000 and explain your issue. 
    3. Online Orientation from the HR department. Please follow the guidelines found on their website under New Employee Orientation.
    4. Setup Direct Deposit - Once logged into your CIS account, click on the "Payroll, Taxes & Salary" button, then click on the "Direct Deposit" link. 
    5. Obtain your badge from the UCard Office. Follow the directions found on their website.

    6. For a UUOC parking permit, email Ashley Neese with the following information:

    • First and Last name, uNID, License Plate Number & State

    1. Schedule/complete the following trainings via the LMS System. You may need to search the titles below under the "Find Learning" section of LMS to register for them. 

    • EPIC Schegistration (2 day classroom training)
    • EPIC Ambulatory Essentials (classroom training)
    • EPIC Research (classroom training)
    • OnCore Trainings (sign up/view more info here):
      • OnCore Orientation (2 hours)
      • OnCore 100: Navigation eLearning (30 mins, assigned in Advarra University)
      • OnCore 105: Protocols Basic eLearning (30 mins, Advarra University)
      • The following OnCore specialty trainings: Protocol Management, Subject Management, Calendar Building, Financial Management
    • Any other trainings that have been auto-assigned as part of on-boarding. 

    2. Register an ERICA profile with the IRB

    3. Complete the following trainings via your CITI account: (you can create this account here. Make sure to associate your account with the University of Utah)​.

    • Group 1 Biomedical Research Investigators and Key Personnel
    • GCP (Good Clinical Practice, US FDA Focus)

         *Email your completion reports to the IRB, requesting they add them to your account. Make sure to include your uID number.  Do this after you have made your ERICA profile*

    4. Please sign and return to the Research Manager the Confidentiality and Security agreement 

    • Unit is Orthopaedics; Supervisor is Ashley Neese 

    5. Complete online Intellectual Property Assignment Agreement
    6. Complete online Conflict of Interest
    ​7. Setup voicemail - Call 3-3312 and let them know that you are new and need to have your voicemail reset. They should then send you an email with instructions

    8. Speak to either Steve Czech or Jordan Peterson about obtaining building access. For parking services, email Ashley Neese and include the following information:

    • First and Last name, uNID, License Plate Number & State
    • Staff members are not permitted to park in the Ortho building lot. 
    • Employee Shuttle (CALL for a ride, do not text): 385-252-8864 
      • ​Shuttle services begin at 6 AM and run until 1 AM the next morning.
      • Current COVID rules: Only 2 people allowed in van besides driver.​

    9. Request access to the UUOC Research Shared Calendar from Ashley Neese. This calendar is used to request time off. 
    10. Email Natalie Nelson​ to request access to PULSE and to be added to the staff email listserv to receive future emails pertaining to the department. 

     

    *Please download and save all PDF's of your completion reports*

    1. Request access, from the Associate Director, for the following resources:

    • PACS (imaging)
    • Research Drive
    • OnCore
    • UBox

    2. Complete the following trainings via the LMS SystemIf you have not been assigned these training's once logged in, please inform the Associate Director.

    • VDO
    • BOE (Buisness Objects Enterprise)

    3. Read all SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) for the department. These can be found in the UUHC shared S: drive by following this path - ortho>Groups>Ortho Clinical Research>^Clinical Research Info>SOPS GCP Ortho Clinical Research. You can also find them by following this link and logging in to PULSE.

    • Please download and use this Training Compliance Form when reading the SOPs. Email this to Ashley Neese when complete. 

    1. Please complete the Research Education Certification of Achievement as time permits.

    • To learn more, click on the "Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Certificate" tab at the bottom of the page. 

    *First ask your study team if you will need VA access for any of your projects.*
    - If you do, email Alan Betts to get started. Explain to him that you are a new employee at the UUOC and that you will be working with the VA
