Why Utah?
Being an Idaho native interested in rural and underserved populations, I found the prospect of joining the Rural Idaho Track at the University of Utah exciting. The track offers a unique opportunity to gain experience practicing psychiatry in both urban and rural areas, with the first two years in Salt Lake City and the last two in Pocatello. From the program I hope to learn more about advocating for resources and policy decisions for vulnerable patient populations, and to help improve healthcare access all while learning about the practice of psychiatry. My wife and I are also excited to further explore the bountiful outdoor adventures that the region has to offer while being close to friends and family.
