    Why Utah?

After my psychiatry rotation in medical school, I knew that psychiatry was my specialty. While completing my psychiatry residency in Arkansas, I found I enjoyed working with the child and adolescent population. I worked from inpatient to outpatient, including on campus at small rural schools. This led me to research CAP programs. Growing up in Utah, I knew that the University of Utah was a leader in the medical field and that choosing Utah would be choosing a stellar educational opportunity. The patient exposure is incredible, we see patients from Utah, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and Wyoming. One of the biggest draws to Utah is the mountains. After years of living without mountains, it’s so nice to be back. It’s so refreshing to be able to go on a hike or mountain bike ride within minutes of leaving my house or work. With Park City just 30 minutes away, I can be on the lift with my bike and on a trail every day if I want. There are so many beautiful National and State parks that you can visit on a weekend too. The beauty of Utah is unparalleled.
