Why Utah?
The culture of the program is truly special. As you'd expect with a strong academic program, there is a culture of excellence that attracts bright, intellectually engaged residents with a passion for psychiatry. At the same time, the culture is relaxed and gentle. We laugh a lot and enjoy each other's company. The leadership wants you to be happy and have time to do the things outside of work that are meaningful to you. Also, Salt Lake City is an incredible (and relatively affordable and un-congested) place to live with easily accessible natural beauty, a good music scene and lots of foodie and hipster delights. I felt comfortable moving here because it is overwhelmingly a tolerant place, with a thriving and visible LGBTQ+ community.
