Why Utah?
I immigrated to Utah when I was 3 years old from Punjab and this is my home. This is a place where I could develop meaningful relationships with both the communities and the land. The University of Utah has a breadth of opportunities and is a place of multi-level growth and progress. The psychiatry program is full of people who encourage and facilitate that growth and it feels like a family. I found my calling to become a psychiatrist here and I think a large part of that was because the attendings, social workers, staff and residents took the time to share their knowledge. The city provides comfort and proximity to many destinations, despite being here for over two decades every day I discover something new! Also, my hometown provides the best tacos and pho.
