Why Utah?
After living in Colorado and Texas, I realized how much I had taken for granted the accessibility and beauty of Utah and chose to come back for medical school. I chose Utah again for residency, not only because it was relatively easy to juggle a work-life balance amongst the mountains, but mostly because during medical school I became part of a community of students, trainees, faculty, and staff who are dedicated to deconstructing and improving the healthcare system. I love that the Triple Board program at the U works to break down the silos of medicine and mental health which translates to quality inter-departmental training between pediatrics and psychiatry. I feel valued as a resident in this community, and with recent donations and funding to both departments, there are many opportunities to help transform healthcare into an inclusive, equitable, and just system.
