Why Utah?
I was looking for a triple board program that had pediatrics and psychiatry training integrated throughout the 5 years, where I could also pursue my interests in global health, and that felt like a family. I felt like the program at Utah checked all of those boxes! The faculty seemed not only kind and engaging, but incredibly supportive of my desire to pursue global health projects during residency. Additionally, when I visited Utah, I was impressed with how close all the residents were and how family-oriented the residency was. (For example, I loved hearing about residents hanging out with their co-residents' partners!) On top of that, I was excited by the opportunity to be so close to so many ski resorts, hiking trails, and climbing spots. I can honestly say that my expectations-of both the supportive, family-oriented nature of this residency AND the opportunities for outdoor recreation-have far been exceeded!
