Russell M. Nelson Visiting Professorship Lecture Recap 2023
The 9th annual Russell M. Nelson Visiting Professorship Lecture was held on November 7, 2023. The keynote speaker this year was Dr. Joseph Woo, who currently serves as the Norman E. Shumway Professor and Chair of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Stanford University. He received his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, where he also completed his postgraduate surgical training in both general and cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Woo gave a thoughtful and engaging talk entitled “Challenging Traditions among the Traditional Challenges in Cardiovascular Surgery.”
