Jared Adney
Title: Education Coordinator
Division of Physician Assistant StudiesJared is responsible for fostering communication between the PA Program and affiliated clinical sites. He manages clinical rotation sites, maintains preceptor information, EOR exams, return visits, Friday clinics, course registration, and ensures student credentialing requirements are met. In addition, Jared assists with various clinical events and pitches in wherever he can. Jared graduated from Brigham Young University Idaho with a degree in public health and an emphasis in health science.

Tatiana Allen-Webb
Title: Program Manager
Division of Public HealthTatiana Allen-Webb, BS, CCRP, is the Program Manager for the Utah Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) program. She coordinates the design, development, and delivery of statewide initiatives, including program assessment and improvement, and oversees the AHEC Scholars. Additionally she handles IRB regulatory affairs ensuring Good Clinical Practices and SOP compliance for the department’s research studies. Tatiana has 19 years of experience at the University of Utah, she is currently working on her MBA and is a Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP).

Crystal Beall
Title: Administrative Program Coordinator
Division of Occupational & Environmental Health/RMCOEHCrystal is the Special Events Coordinator in the Continuing Education program. Her responsibilities include office and on-site coordination and support of the day to day activities associated with numerous and various continuing education programs. She is directly involved with assisting and monitoring OSHA-approved outreach trainers through the Mountain West OSHA Education Center. Crystal has been with the department since 2010.

Anne Berger
Title: Administrative Manager
Division of Public HealthAnne is the Administrative Assistant for the Division of Public Health. Her job responsibilities include providing administrative support to the Associate Chiefs, as well as other faculty and staff, organizing room reservations, and maintaining travel and conference arrangements.

Jessica Bickley
Title: Academic Program Manager
Division of Family MedicineJess manages the daily aspects of Medical Student Education for the Family Medicine Division. This includes the 3rd year clerkship, as well as the 4th year Sub-Internship and other 3rd and 4th year electives. She obtains and manages all adjunct faculty appointments for preceptors as well as affiliation agreements with clinical sites. Jess oversees the scholarly activities as well as grants and research for the division. She also coordinates all FMIG (Family Medicine Interest Group) activities. She has a bachelor’s in Psychology and is currently enrolled in the Masters of Public Administration program here at the U.

Stacey Board
Title: Administrative Assistant
AdministrationStacey is an Administrative Assistant for the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. She provides administrative support to the Interim Chief, as well as support for department scheduling, travel, procurements and payments. She has worked at the University of Utah since 2018.

Larry Bonnette
Title: Network Administrator Sr.
AdministrationLarry maintains department computing resources and oversees all IT related matters for the department. He provides for secure network access to department, campus, and internet sources. As a mathematician with a minor in physics, he began programming at Hill Air Force Base in 1980 and has worked with the University since the 80s as a LAN Manager and Database Programmer, along with Desktop and Server Manager.

Corby Bradshaw
Title: Computer Technician
Division of Physician Assistant StudiesCorby is responsible for managing the IVC classroom equipment at the St. George campus. Corby ensures that our classroom technology works well to keep our SLC and St. George students and instructors connected. He has been involved with computers and tech work for most of his life, most recently working for Dixie State University. Starting at the University of Utah in early 2018, he has facilitated the IVC system during classes, as well as developed tools for teachers and students to use to improve their experience. He is currently in school at DSU finishing his degree in IT.

Rachel Brown
Title: Project Coordinator
Division of Occupational & Environmental Health/RMCOEHRachel is the Project Coordinator for the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health. Her responsibilities include coordinating training activities, monitors expenditures, assisting in the preparation of grant proposal, research materials, and outreach projects and publications, coordinate seminars, workshops, and other project meetings. Rachel has a M.S. in Environmental Policy and Natural Resource Management with 10+ years of experience in the environmental field.

Holly Bynum
Title: Administrative Director
AdministrationHolly oversees the department’s clinical strategies and operations and directs administration for the Division of Family Medicine. Holly earned her MBA at the University of Utah. Before her employment with the University, she worked at Select Health for 10 years managing insurance plans and benefit adjunction operations. Holly joined University Health Care in 2005, where she has worked in project management, decision support, nursing finance, and research administration.

Toni Chambers
Title: Administrative Assistant
Division of Occupational & Environmental Health/RMCOEHToni is responsible for the administrative support to the division’s faculty, staff, and students. Her responsibilities include assisting with grant preparations, managing calendars, reconciling with accounts payable, planning events, taking meeting minutes, and assisting with travel. Toni has been with the department since 2006.

Dan Clawson
Title: Associate Director, Information Technology
AdministrationDan oversees technology for the department. He is interested in all kinds of geeky things. He got his first computer at age 10 and it’s been non-stop since then. Starting at the University in 2000, he has worked with large Unix systems for hosting websites, email, and database systems, and he has done software development in various languages.

Ashley Crompton
Title: Medical Student Education Program Manager
Division of Family MedicineAshley manages the daily aspects of the Medical Student Education Program, including the 3rd year clerkship, 4th year Sub-Internship and other 3rd and 4th year electives, and helps to obtain and manage all adjunct faculty appointments for preceptors as well as affiliation agreements with clinical sites. She also oversees the Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG). Ashley has a bachelor’s in Human Development and Family Studies from the U and has been working in healthcare for the past 15 years. Ashley enjoys hiking, skiing and going on adventures with her two rescue dogs, Hudson and Walker.

Doris Dalton
Title: Director of Admissions
Division of Physician Assistant StudiesAs Director of Admissions for the PA program, Doris is responsible for the development and implementation of admissions policies and processes. She joined the program in 2005, and is a two-time graduate of the University of Utah, with a BA in Political Science, and a Master of Public Administration. She has served the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) as a member of the CASPA Advisory Committee, Chair of the CASPA Enhancements Committee, the Recruitment and Admissions Council, and the Diversity and Inclusion Mission Advancement Council. Doris received the PAEA Staff Excellence Award in 2018.

Courtney DeMond
Title: Administration Manager
Division of Public HealthCourtney is an Administration Manager for the Division of Public Health. She is responsible for the administration and management of all Public Health program operations including education, budgeting, financial operations, development, communication, and human resources. Courtney earned her MBA from Concordia University Chicago. She has several years of experience in management, leadership, administrative duties, academic advising, public relations and event coordinating.

Luz Dominguez

Abby Dowd
Title: Didactic Coordinator
Division of Physician Assistant StudiesAbby is the coordinator for the UPAP didactic team. She manages a multidisciplinary schedule and works with the instructors and faculty to address student needs during their didactic year. In addition, she is responsible for management of the IVC classroom technology in the Salt Lake City classroom as well as grade entry, failure remediation, data processing and transcription, student registration, evaluation control, and event planning. Abby has a Bachelor degree from the University of Washington in Environmental Science.

Emilee Eden
Title: Study Coordinator
Division of Occupational & Environmental Health/RMCOEHEmilee manages the research team at the Rocky Mountain Center. She aids in compiling evidence-based practice guidelines for the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), training of new hires, assisting with writing scientific manuscripts and grants, and oversees project management. She also is the program coordinator for the Targeted Research Training program. She helps with program data collection and tracking, revising TRT curriculum, and acts as a liaison between the program director and PhD and post-doctoral program students. Emilee earned her Master’s degree in public health from the University of Utah in August of 2017.

Julie Fryer
Title: Administrative Program Coordinator
AdministrationJulie is the buyer for things pertaining within Central Administration, along with procuring all computer equipment for faculty and staff in the department. She is the main contact person for building maintenance and makes the payments to all contractors that facilitate the building. She aids others to update and maintain department webpages. Julie received a Web Design Certificate, Web Development Certificate, and Web Design Tools Certificate from Continuing Education at the University of Utah. She has been with the department since January 1991. Julie prefers (or should it be prefurs) to interact with dogs over people most days.


Karla Galvan
Title: Pre-Award Administrator
AdministrationKarla has worked at the University of Utah for over 10 years. She joins us from the Neurology Department where she worked with faculty and staff providing pre and post award support. Karla holds an MBA from Western Governors University.

Tanis Garcia
Title: Grants Accounting Officer
AdministrationTanis is responsible for the operations of pre/post award grant administration and related accounting duties heavily focused on budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and reporting. Tanis earned in BS in Accounting from the University of Utah and her MBA from Weber State University. She has worked as an accountant for the University of Utah since 2012. Tanis has also worked in the telecom and energy industry and was part of the Accounts Payable and School of Computing teams here at the U before joining DFPM. In her spare time, she runs, hikes, enjoys games, and reads.

Rob Gray
Title: Associate Director of Accounting & Finance
AdministrationRob is an established professional and leader who has proven to be reliable in his analytical abilities and is trusted to manage essential projects and initiatives in support of the department’s mission. He joined the University in 2014 and has worked as an accountant, financial analyst and manager. Rob has demonstrated the ability to find creative solutions and identify unique opportunities wherever he goes. Rob earned his MBA from the University of Utah.

Elise Hilton
Title: Administrative Assistant
AdministrationElise serves the Department of Family and Preventive medicine as Administrative Assistant to the Department Chair, Dr. Kola Okuyemi, MD. Her responsibilities include coordinating Dr. Okuyemi’s calendar and travel, facilitating department meetings, and helping to manage financial transactions and budgets, among other office operations. Elise draws from her experience supporting executives at the U.S. Senate, Lincoln Financial Group, and Elon University in North Carolina. She graduated with a degree in American Studies from Brigham Young University.

Melissa Husebye
Title: Administration Manager
Division of Physician Assistant StudiesMelissa is the Division Manager for the Division of Physician Assistant Studies. She manages PA staff and is responsible for budgeting and financial operations within the Division. In addition, she also works with the leadership team on projects related to ARC-PA accreditation and as well as support for grant financial administration. Melissa has a BS in Environmental Studies and over 10 years of experience in higher education.

Diane Johnson
Title: Education Director
Division of Occupational & Environmental Health/RMCOEHDiane Longhurst Johnson, PhD brings extensive and unique experience in both traditional and non-traditional educational settings. She has demonstrated leadership and management of complex academic and corporate educational ventures. As an advocate of high impact education to employment programs, she has pioneered large scale competency-based education and assessment systems. Diane was the founding senior manager of Performance Evaluation at Western Governors University. Dr. Johnson's domestic and international educational experience allows her to work effectively with diverse students, faculty, and employers to build strong professional networks. Diane is pleased to contribute her expertise to identify and promote best-practices, find solutions to tough work-force challenges, and serve at-risk populations. Her primary research interests include education to employment, non-traditional learners, and factors that influence active learning engagement and competency development. Diane holds a PhD in Education, Curriculum & Instruction from Utah State University, a graduate certificate in Higher Education Assessment from James Madison University, a MS from Brigham Young University and a BS from Utah State University, both in special education focusing on mild and moderate disabilities.

Elizabeth Johnson
Title: Academic Advisor
Division of Public HealthElizabeth Johnson is an Academic Advisor to the students within the Division of Public Health. She coordinates aspects of the student educational programs including admissions, advising, graduation, events, marketing, and recruitment. Elizabeth earned her BA in English from the University of Utah.

Mandy Johnson
Title: Clinical Coordinator
Division of Physician Assistant StudiesMandy is the Program Manager and Clinical Coordinator for the Clinical Team at the Salt Lake Campus. She is primarily responsible for Recruitment and Retention for Clinical sites & Preceptors. She maintains Affiliation Agreements, is responsible for the day to day management of the clinical rotation schedule, and oversees student scholarships. Mandy loves to write YA Speculative Fiction and is slowly working on an English MFA in Creative Writing. She also enjoys playing the piano, singing, playing the flute, hiking and biking with her family, and travelling the world. Mandy is from Tucson, Arizona. She graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Arizona and even though she loves the mountains and the change of seasons in Utah, an Arizona sunset will always take her breath away.

Andrew Langi
Title: Project Administrator
AdministrationAndrew provides administrative support for the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) project at the University of Utah. His main responsibilities are leading NRMN project operations for team members, overseeing administration of grant activities to ensure achievement of quarterly goals, complying with institutional and funder policies, proper contract execution and preparation of annual progress reports. He also assists with managing the NRMN grant budgets, three subcontracts, and contracts.

Layla Lincoln
Title: Research Assistant/Analyst
Division of Public HealthLayla Lincoln is working as a Research Assistant and Analyst in the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Laboratory for Dr. Baron. Layla has a BA in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.

Pamela Lyon
Title: Administrative Program Coordinator
Division of Public HealthPam is an Administrative Program Coordinator within the Division of Public Health. She coordinates all Global Health activities for Division faculty and staff. In conjunction with the Associate Director of Research, she manages the Division’s Learning Abroad program logistics. She also provides administrative support to the Division of Public Health Associate Chiefs.

Shahpar Najmabadi
Title: Post Doctoral Fellow
Division of Physician Assistant StudiesAs a public health professional with a clinical background, Shahpar is interested in improved outcomes for sexual and reproductive health. Her overarching research goal is to implement and promote evidence-based policies that decrease infant/maternal mortality, prevent diseases, increase access to reproductive health services. Shahpar also engages in research that helps women and couples advocate for autonomy in making sound reproductive health/family planning decisions. Currently, she is working on a project that evaluates the menstrual cycle characteristics of women without any known subfertility, women with endometriosis, and women with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Danny Nelson
Title: Training & Media Coordinator
AdministrationDanny Nelson coordinates communications and provides design and writing support for the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine’s divisions. He also provides administrative support to the department’s many training and mentorship programs, and coordinates the U’s interaction with the National Research Mentoring Network. Danny has a master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Washington.

Kevin Ostler
Title: Residency Program Coordinator
Division of Occupational & Environmental Health/RMCOEHKevin is the Administrative Program Coordinator for the Occupational Medicine residency training program. His duties include assisting with recruitment of applicants, matriculation of candidates, and management of resident activities through the duration of the residency as well as after graduation. Additionally, Kevin documents and reports on the ACGME and RMCOEH grant program requirements and arranges the Residency Advisory Committee meetings and communicates residency activities with occupational health professionals in the community. Kevin has worked for the University of Utah since 2002.

Jesslyn Popwell
Title: Academic Advisor
Division of Occupational & Environmental Health/RMCOEHJesslyn is our new Academic Advisor in the Division of Occupational and Environmental Health. She will be providing support to all of the students in the programs within the division. Jesslyn has a master’s degree in Psychology and has 8 years of academic advising, recruitment, and teaching experience. She formerly worked as an Academic Coordinator at the University of Utah’s Emergency Medicine Department. She comes from a musically talented family. In her free time, she is a professional soloist, theater director, and vocal coach – and has been a back-up singer for the Beach Boys and Moby.

Jenna Praggastis
Title: Research Assistant
Division of Occupational & Environmental Health/RMCOEHJenna helps with project management for ACOEM as well as assists with managing the research team. She is now responsible for training research assistants, managing scheduling and tracking sheets, assisting with grants and manuscripts, performing exhaustive literature searches and summaries, and works on statistical analysis of research projects. Jenna graduated from the University of Utah in May 2017 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology.

Shalese Ramirez
Title: Information Coordinator
Division of Occupational & Environmental Health/RMCOEHShalese provides administrative, and clerical support for the Continuing Education Program. She is responsible for assisting clients, course registration, tuition, billing, and preparing correspondence for numerous, and various CE Programs. She also handles evaluations, and generating reports associated with these programs.

Anne Randall
Title: Administrative Officer
Division of Public HealthAnne Randall is the Administrative Officer for the Division of Public Health. She is responsible for financial and research support to the division faculty members, and senior administrative managers. She will assist with grant preparation, budget monitoring, and research inventory.

Becky Reynolds
Title: Administrative Manager, Clinical
Division of Family MedicineBecky is the administrative manager of clinical programs in the Division of Family Medicine. She oversees faculty clinic schedules, including call and OB, faculty dashboards and policies and procedures. She works with the PCMH, APC, Insomnia and SEE groups and assists with community outreach and Million Heart efforts. Becky joined the University of Utah in 1998 and has over 15 years experience in higher education. She received her Bachelor of Science in Family and Human Development from Utah State University.

Forrest Rhinehart
Title: Administrative Assistant
Division of Public HealthForrest is the Program Assistant for the Division of Public Health. She provides secretarial and administrative support to faculty and staff. Her responsibilities include managing calendars, accounts payable, supply orders, lists, minutes, and assisting with travel and event planning as needed. She earned her BA in Communication and International Studies from the University of Utah.

Andrew Rivera
Title: Clinical Research Coordinator
Division of Public HealthAndrew “Andy” Rivera is working as a Clinical Research Coordinator in the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Laboratory for Dr. Baron. He coordinates recruitment, scheduling study visits, and the collection of study samples and data. Andy earned his BS from the University of Utah and plans to apply for medical school.

Jocelyn Romano
Title: Associate Director, Administration
Division of Physician Assistant StudiesJocelyn provides financial and administrative direction to the division and helps to expand and implement the social mission of health education and practice. Jocelyn has over 20 years of experience in administration, leadership, and development in the nonprofit sector.

Madeline Romney
Title: Project Administrator
AdministrationMadeline’s role in the Department of Family & Preventive Medicine focuses on managing training & mentoring programs under Drs. Conroy, Hashibe, and Okuyemi. Her primary projects are various grants supporting Utah Advanced Course on Mentoring, Leadership, and Cancer-related Health Disparities, Utah StARR, NRMN, and U-HELM. In her free time Madeline enjoys reading, running, and spending time with loved ones.

Rebecca Ross
Title: Academic Coordinator
Division of Physician Assistant StudiesRebecca is responsible for coordination of graduate studies, including overseeing graduate degree records, reporting to the office of graduate studies, providing graduate verifications to providers, and coordinating annual master’s projects. In addition, she manages the schedule of the division chief, prepares grant reports, assists with weekly tutorial groups and organizes clinical practicum. Rebecca has two Bachelor degrees from the University of Utah in Urban Planning and Environmental Studies.

April Sanders-Aboulila
Title: Program Manager
Division of Public HealthApril is the Program Manager for the Division of Public Health. April oversees all academic programs in the division, including the MPH programs at the University of Utah Asia campus and the Ensign College of Public Health. April is currently completing her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Utah. She obtained her Master of Science in Academic Advising from Kansas State University in 2015.

Cayla Sanelli
Title: Academic Coordinator
Division of Family MedicineCayla is an academic program coordinator providing support for the Family Medicine medical student education and clinical programs. She assists with third year placements and serves as a back up to the medical student education manager. She also helps with clinical schedules and programs such as SEE, Insomnia Management and Reach Out and Read. Cayla serves as the direct assistant to Drs. Leiser and Kiraly and will be assisting all faculty and APC’s with travel needs. Cayla is from Tampa, Florida. She worked as an administrative assistant for a civil defense law firm before making her cross country move. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida. In her spare time, Cayla enjoys reading, writing, and traveling.

Camie Schaefer
Title: Technical Writer
Division of Occupational & Environmental Health/RMCOEHCamie provides writing and editing support to students, faculty, and staff at the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health. She runs the RMCOEH Journal Club and Dissertation Boot Camp. She also writes and designs the semiannual newsletter for the RMCOEH and runs social media outreach on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. She holds a Ph.D. in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Utah. Outside of work, she writes fiction and creative nonfiction, and has had over 20 pieces published in nationally distributed literary journals.

Lingpeng (Andrew) Shan
Title: Biostatistician
Division of Public HealthLingpeng Shan is a Biostatistician on Dr. Azagba’s research team and provides statistical analysis and programming support. He received his MS in Biostatistics from Case Western Reserve University in 2018.

Nirupma Singh
Title: Research Analyst
Division of Public HealthNirupma is involved in several projects under the Office of Cooperative Reproductive Health and Neurobehavior HOME program with UNI. Additionally, she helps with the study abroad program (BPCCDP-India) run by the division in India. Nirupma received a dual Master of Public Health and Health Administration from the University of Utah in 2011.

Melanie Steiner-Sherwood
Title: Director, Research and Innovation
AdministrationMelanie develops the department’s research infrastructure and directs central pre- and post-award operations. She works closely with the Vice Chair for Research and the Research and Innovation Committee to set strategic goals and success metrics for research activities. She joined the University of Utah in 2016 and has worked in project management and proposal development, most recently in the VPR’s research development office, and has significant experience with NIH and NSF. Melanie holds a PhD in German Studies from Cornell University and a certificate in Editing from the University of Chicago Graham School.

Kelsey Townsend
Title: Academic Advisor
Division of Public HealthKelsey is an Academic Advisor to the students in the Masters of Public Health and MPH Joint Degree programs offered through the Division of Public Health. She coordinates all aspects of student education programs including recruiting, admissions, advising, and graduation. Kelsey earned her Master’s degree in Academic Advising from Kansas State University.

Karen Winningham
Title: Education Coordinator
Division of Physician Assistant StudiesKaren is the coordinator for the UPAP didactic team at the St. George campus. She has worked with the University of Utah for the past 18 years in the Containing Education and Community Enrichment (CECE) department and more specifically in the Professional Education department for the past 13 years managing the Corporate Employee Universities and Government (City Recorders and Treasurers) Academies. This opportunity has allowed her to make friends in almost every city in the state. Karen works closely with UPAP faculty, staff and instructors to address St. George student needs during their didactic year and clinical year.

Jason Zavala

AdministrationJason is the department's database programmer. He has experience with working in Python, Java, C++, JavaScript and managing PostgreSQL. He enjoys working at the intersection of technology and people. He has been with the department since 2016. His major is Computer Engineering at the university. He enjoys photography and tinkering with electronics.
