Current Fellow

Rowan Kelner, MD

Rowan is the first-year Medical Education Fellow at the University of Utah. He completed Medical School at New York Medical College and Residency at the University of Utah. His interest include Undergraduate Medical Education, Research Designs, EBM, and Simulations. At home you can find him wrangling his two sons, watching the Arsenal F.C , and burning himself trying to bake bread.

Why Utah? I chose The University of Utah because I know first hand the quality and dedication of the educators I will be learning from. The ability to "choose your own adventure", while simultaneously helping to shape a new best-in-class fellowship and get a fully paid Masters Degree, was an opportunity couldn't pass up!

Brian Merritt, DO

Current Fellow

I’m Brian, and I’m incredibly excited to be joining the team as the incoming medical education fellow.  I grew up in rural western Pennsylvania, where I also completed my undergraduate and medical education before making the move to sunny Florida for residency. My fiancé and I couples matched in the Tampa area for residency, and she recently matched into the PICU fellowship at the U of U, and we will be moving to SLC with our dog, Marcy.

I love to fly fish, hike, and spend my time outdoors.  My passions within medicine include education, EBM, and procedural skills. I’m so excited to join the team, to continue my education and to live in close proximity to mountains and in such a beautiful area!
