Our fellows become confident educators during their fellowship through a variety of teaching experiences in many settings. These settings range from one-on-one teaching in the ICU to small group sessions with families and residents to large conferences with peers.
Pediatric Residency Lecture Series
Fellows teach in the pediatric resident lecture series. Fellows are mentored in developing appropriate content and methods.
PICU Resident Sessions
Fellows, who are not on clinical service, meet weekly with residents in the PICU to discuss clinical topics.
Division Conferences
Fellows present multiple times each year at division conferences. Peer teaching is some of the most challenging and a great way to learn new techniques.
Simulation
Many of our fellows develop expertise in simulation. They complete simulation facilitator training through Intermountain Healthcare and lead simulations both at Primary Children’s Hospital and the School of Medicine.
School of Medicine
Fellows lead small groups and interactive learning sessions for pre-clinical medical students. Fellows facilitate simulation sessions for graduating medical students. Given our specialty, fellows are considered experts in cardiovascular and respiratory physiology.
Education Scholarship
For those interested, we mentor fellows in education scholarship. Education scholarship includes curriculum development, assessment and advanced teaching methods.
