The University of Utah complies with the duty hour requirements of the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the Pediatrics Residency Review Committee. Residents receive one full day (24 hours) out of the hospital every seven days averaged over 30 days. Paid leave includes three weeks of vacation in addition to a week long holiday break annually. Residents may also receive up to 12 weeks of FMLA (8 weeks paid) per year. This can be used for personal or family illness, maternity, and paternity leave. Residents receive up to 5 days annually for personal and professional development.
