  • About Me

My exposure to the field of infectious diseases began when I was an undergraduate student of microbiology at Weber State University in Utah. As I continued my medical school and pediatric residency at ATSU in Missouri and UofA in Tucson, Arizona, I continued to have a deep interest in the field. I am so excited about the opportunity to continue caring for children while learning about infections impacting their health. I am also interested in pursuing a medical microbiology fellowship after ID fellowship.

    Interests & Hobbies

Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife and children. My other interests include running, mountain biking and unicycling, woodworking, gardening and finding other opportunities to serve others around me!

    Why Utah?

I was drawn to Utah for three reasons: the location, the people and the fellowship program structure.

    1. Location: SLC is by far the most outdoor accessible city I have ever encountered. I love to spend time in the mountains, which are literally in the backyard of SLC. I also love the safe environment which is ideal for my family.

    2. People: This department is filled with people who are thoughtful, kind and encouraging. I felt this from the day of my interview. Anyone coming here can expect to feel welcomed and respected regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation.

    3. Fellowship structure: I love the idea of having clinical time spread throughout the 3 years of fellowship. This approach fit with my desires to have opportunities for clinical learning spread throughout my fellowship, rather than concentrated only into the first year.
