  • About Me

I grew up in Salt Lake City exploring the mountains then moved to Southern California for sunnier weather and my undergraduate education at Scripps College, a liberal arts environment where I created a double major in biology and Hispanic Studies while taking humanities courses and playing violin in the orchestra. I also studied abroad in Buenos Aires, taking direct enrollment courses in local universities and ultimately becoming fluent in Spanish. I stayed in the Los Angeles area for medical school at USC, where I also worked as a Medical Spanish teaching assistant and became passionate about providing high-quality care to patients with limited English proficiency. I found that pediatrics was an excellent match for my deep curiosity and aptitude for communication and advocating. After exploring life outside of Utah, I was thrilled to return to the mountains for my pediatrics residency to live closer to family. Through the course of my residency, I discovered a passion and aptitude for pediatric emergency medicine.

    Why Utah?

There is something unique and beautiful about life in Salt Lake City that I have come to appreciate deeply. Beyond its unparalleled outdoor opportunities and the increasingly vibrant culture, however, is the academic environment at the hospital itself. As I have experienced throughout my residency, there a drive to succeed and provide innovative high-quality care while also creating a supportive, friendly environment at work. People truly build each other up. I have found this to be true time and time again. Furthermore, Primary Children’s has an extremely broad catchment area with volume and variety that has empowered me to learn how to manage patients with all degrees of acuity and complexity. I came to love the emergency department for all of these reasons over the course of my rotations as I discovered this passion and developed my career aspirations. I am extremely excited to continue my training here as a fellow!
