  • About Me

Coming out of residency, I had a strong interest in cardiac intensive care and decided on a dual boarding training pathway (pediatric cardiology and critical care). The University of Utah/Primary Children’s Hospital has exceptional pediatric critical care as well as cardiology fellowships. On the critical care side, the program is busy and strongly promotes fellow autonomy and leadership within the care team. The attendings in both the PICU and CICU value teaching and provide a constructive learning environment. From the cardiac ICU/cardiology perspective, we care for a high volume of complex congenital heart disease, provide every manner of mechanical circulatory support, and have an active heart failure and transplant program. The culture within the heart center is outstanding with surgeons, intensivists, and cardiologists working seamlessly to provide excellent care to patients and genuinely support each other in clinical, research, and education endeavors. As I neared the end of my cardiology fellowship here and was exploring options for critical care fellowships, I couldn’t imagine a better option than remaining in Utah to continue my training in critical care. Beyond the hospital, my husband and I routinely enjoy the outdoor activities that are so readily available in SLC and the surrounding areas. We trail-run, hike, camp, fly fish, and ski in and around SLC basically every weekend (when I’m not working of course…) and have enjoyed several weekend trips to explore the state and national parks.

What are your plans following fellowship? CICU with dual boarding, so I'll be starting PICU fellowship at Utah in June 2024.

What made you decide to come to Utah? The program checked all the important boxes for me and the location can't be beat given my love of the outdoors!
