Career interests/interests within pediatrics: I have an interest in IBD but am open to other areas within this subspecialty.. we’ll see where the year takes me!
Hobbies/interests outside of work: Trying new restaurants, spending time outdoors, Peloton, and hanging out with my husband and pup, Penny.
Why Utah Pediatric gastroenterology? A former fellow gushed about how wonderful her time was training here which piqued my interest. I ultimately chose Utah because of the strength of the program, the pathology that is seen here due to the large catchment area, and the connections I made with the faculty and fellows on interview day. It just felt like the perfect fit!
What is your favorite part about our program? The friendliness and approachability of every single person I have encountered. Everyone is willing to help and teach, it’s a wonderful learning environment.
What is your favorite part about living in Salt Lake City? The proximity to the mountains!
What cool research/advocacy/education/scholarly work are you participating in? Nothing at the moment as I am settling into my new role as a fellow!
What is something you didn't know before coming to Utah that you wish you did? 1. How dog-friendly the city is. 2. I underestimated the amount of time it would take to adjust to the elevation.
What are your plans following fellowship? Still deciding, maybe further training
What made you decide to come to Utah? Friendliness of everyone during the interview day and accessibility to the outdoors
What are you doing next year? Starting my research and planning to earn my MSCI (Master of Science in Clinical Investigation) degree.
