  • About Me

Another East Coast transplant in SLC! I was born in England but lived mostly in Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Vermont prior to residency. I went to medical school at the University of Vermont. I decided to make the big move out West away from the humidity and subzero winters to Utah for residency and cannot see myself moving away now. My passion for medicine, specifically pediatric emergency medicine came from my high school and college experiences working as an EMT and patient care technician. This interest was strengthened by several international and rural health experiences in Haiti, the Himalayas, Malawi and most recently southeastern Utah. I love the emergency department because it is the first place a patient interacts with the hospital system and gives us as healthcare providers an opportunity to not only investigate a patient’s underlying illness but also set the stage for their experience going forward. When I am not in the hospital, you’ll find me outside enjoying SLC’s amazing access to unbeatable climbing, mountain biking, skiing followed by enjoying a local craft beer, or off the grid on a camping trip.

    Medical Areas of Interest

Prehospital medicine, rural and international child health, wilderness medicine, trauma

    Interests & Hobbies

Trad and sport climbing, mountain biking, skiing, backpacking, exploring new places, yoga, craft beer.

    Why Utah?

My first exposure to SLC and PCH was as a visiting medical student doing a rotation in the Peds ED. I quickly fell in love with the laid-back atmosphere and “work hard, play hard” culture found here. Training at Primary Children’s for residency was unique for many reasons and made me want to stay for fellowship! The large catchment area is one of those unique aspects which brings children from across the mountain west from diverse backgrounds with differing access to resources. Apart from the patient population I love PCH’s ED staff; the nurses, techs, other care team members and physicians create a supportive and fun environment ready to handle anything that comes their way, and I am thrilled to join the team as a fellow!
