I went to the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill and majored in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Medical Anthropology. I returned to Colorado at the University of Colorado- Anschutz Medical Campus for a Master of Science in Modern Human Anatomy. I went to medical school at Wake Forest University and finally to University of Utah for my pediatric residency.

Immigrant and refugee health

Why Utah?
Throughout residency it was obvious that the PEM would provide excellent mentorship and research/ advocacy opportunities. The PEM division has been incredibly welcoming and allowed me to explore my clinical interests. They have been supportive of my interests in refugee and immigrant health and how those interests could be applied to improve patient care. Furthermore, the overall department's commitment to growth in the arena of DEI has been impressive. I have appreciated their humility in listening to community partners and healthcare workers from a variety of backgrounds. Finally, while I was initially hesitant about the food opportunities here in SLC, I have to admit they have grown and are a wonderful stop after a hike during the summertime.
