Automatically generate multiple consent documents
University of Utah researchers have developed an electronic consent building tool that automatically generates multiple consent, parental permission, and assent documents for a single study.
Consent Builder guides research staff through the required consent form sections with instructions and examples. Consent language is collected via a web-based survey. Once study information is collected, research staff can generate the necessary site forms with the click of a button. The tool aggregates the information and compiles the data to produce a high-quality informed consent document in PDF format.
Features and Benefits
- Organizes multicenter consent documents within one system
- Facilitates rapid modification of multiple documents
- Generates updated documents simultaneously
- Offers a range of Human Research Protection Program (HRPP)-approved templates
- Enables site-specific language collection through an online survey
- Provides consistent formatting across study site documents
Purpose
We are seeking new users to help us improve the tool. Our goals are to:
- Improve user satisfaction by reducing the effort it takes to generate multiple consent forms for multicenter studies
- Reduce the time it takes IRBs and Clinical Coordinating Centers to prepare and review consent forms since it utilizes a common template
