SUMMER RESEARCH IMMERSION

Dedicated Time to Experience Research

The summer between the first and second years of medical school provides students with eight weeks of dedicated time to focus on research and scholarship.

Students have the opportunity to work closely with a faculty mentor, gain hands-on research experience, and apply the foundational skills developed during Phase 1. Summer research can also provide a foundation for projects that continue throughout later phases of medical school.

WHY SUMMER IMMERSION?

Eight Weeks to Focus, Explore & Grow

Summer Immersion provides protected time for students to engage deeply in research. During this experience, students can develop research and scientific communication skills, build relationships with faculty and research teams, and contribute to meaningful scholarly work.

Experiences may span laboratory, clinical, translational, population health, community-engaged, rural, tribal, underserved, and other areas of research and scholarship.
