Utah Registry of Autism and Developmental Disabilities (URADD)
The Utah Registry of Autism and Developmental Disabilities (URADD) was established in 2002 as a joint effort between the Utah Department of Health and the University of Utah Department of Psychiatry. The goal of URADD is to determine the number and characteristics of persons in Utah with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities (DD). URADD uses a passive, population-based system to identify persons with ASD based on a community medical diagnosis of ASD and/or an autism special education eligibility.
In the mid-1980’s, Utah was one of the first states in the U.S. to identify autism prevalence and describe characteristics of people with ASD. URADD builds upon Utah’s legacy as a leader in the epidemiology of ASD to improve the lives of individuals with ASD and their families.
