Osteoarthritis of the knee joint often asymmetrically involves the medial, lateral, and/or patellofemoral compartments.
Common features include:
- Asymmetric joint space narrowing.
- Degenerative malalignment (genu varus/valgus alignment, subluxation)
- Osteophyte formation (productive)
- Subchondral cystic change and sclerosis
- Chondrocalcinosis
FINDINGS:
No acute fracture. Moderate lateral tibiofemoral and patellofemoral joint space narrowing. Tricompartmental osteophytes. Small joint effusion.
