Information Technology is necessarily intertwined with today's practice of radiology. Our teams ensure that our imaging studies are stored properly, able to be viewed by our radiologists easily and efficiently, shared within the enterprise medical records system, and made available to patients within MyChart or on a physical disk.

We also work hard to help physicians who order imaging studies understand and find the most appropriate imaging studies for their patients - this process is called clinical decision support (CDS). 

 

The University of Utah PACS archive contains 1.51 billion images

At any given time, 170 physicians and clinical staff are viewing imaging exams in Epic/PACS

Radiology imports over 4,000 imaging exams monthly from outside institutions, reducing patient cost and  radiation exposure
