BURN CENTER RECEIVES FULL RECERTIFICATION WITH NO DEFICIENCIES
The Burn Center remains a world renowned clinical and academic program and one of the flagship enterprises of the University. The amount of work and dedication from the entire team has been incredible to witness. A special congratulations to Dr. Gia Lewis, Director of the Burn Unit, and the entire burn team!
DR. MARTA MCCRUM APPOINTED THE INAUGURAL DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH FOR THE DIVISION OF GENERAL SURGERY
The Director of Research position will provide increased resources and mentorship for faculty and trainees with a focus on increasing the faculty’s competitiveness in acquiring extramural research funding. Congratulations Dr. McCrum!
DR. ERK VOLCKMANN APPOINTED MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF A50 UNIT
This position serves an important role that helps to ensure physician leadership and direction into the quality of care and required resources provided in this unit. Dr. Volckmann is well-suited with his experience and leadership in clinical program development. Congratulations Dr. Volckmann!
EMERGENCY GENERAL SURGERY ANNOUNCES A NEW SERVICE LINE
Some of you may remember the “Green Service” which cared for emergency general surgery patients. Since the American College of Surgeons has now outlined the required resources and QI processes for EGS center verification, the Acute Care Surgery group has led the way in developing this service line to mirror the trauma quality improvement, data registry, and review processes to ensure the highest level of care for these patients. Congratulations to Dr. Alex Colonna, the inaugural Director of EGS, and Dr. Sarah Lombardo the Associate Director of EGS.
