ABOUT GENERAL SURGERY
The Division of General Surgery trains exceptional providers while serving patients throughout the Mountain West. Our physicians provide top rated clinical care and academic training across the breadth of general surgery - trauma, surgical critical care, emergency general surgery, burn care, bariatric surgery, and general surgery.
With extensive clinical expertise and research experience, our surgeons lead the region in outcomes for trauma, burns and bariatric surgery. Additionally, our research programs advance our knowledge and understanding to improve patient outcomes.
Our General Surgery Residency Program offers trainees in-depth clinical training with exposure to complex patients. Specifically, we are a tertiary referral center for the Intermountain West caring for the most complicated burn, pediatric, oncology, trauma and critically ill. The division also offers fellowships in surgical critical care, acute care surgery, and burn. Residents and fellows have the opportunity for additional professional development in the areas of research, quality improvement and/or education working with skilled faculty to advance their field.
Our division improves the quality of life for all patients through innovative surgical education, cutting-edge general surgery research, and high-quality surgical care in our region.
