
SURGEON SPOTLIGHT: CARLA HOLCOMB
Carla Holcomb, MD, MSPH, FACS, earned her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma. She completed a general surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During that time, she completed a two-year research fellowship and earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health. She completed a minimally invasive surgery fellowship at Ohio State University, specializing in bariatric and foregut surgery.
Dr. Holcomb’s clinical interests include foregut, bariatric, and abdominal wall hernia with an emphasis on robotic surgical technique. She has spent the last 6 years at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Her research interests have included health services outcomes and surgical simulation. She has maintained surgical leadership positions with her many roles in surgical quality.
Her personal interests include hiking, travel, and having a good laugh.
