MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF
At University of Utah’s Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, we are dedicated to state-of-the-art patient care, leveraging the latest surgical and technological innovations and research to advance the field of plastic surgery.
Our team comprises highly trained faculty members who provide comprehensive care to patients requiring reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Many of our faculty have received additional fellowship training in hand, microvascular, pediatric craniofacial, and aesthetic surgery. We are committed to delivering cutting-edge surgical and non-surgical procedures and developing novel plastic surgery techniques through our robust clinical and basic science research programs.
Our program proudly trains some of the brightest residents and fellows. Our highly sought-after residency and fellowship positions are filled by top-ranked candidates from across the country. Our graduates pursue both academic and private practice positions, driven by a desire to excel in their specialties. We are dedicated to making the University of Utah Plastic Surgery Program one of the leading programs in the country, playing a key role in the clinical, educational, and research missions of the Department of Surgery, the School of Medicine, and the Mountain West region.
We offer an integrated residency program that is accredited by the ACGME and adheres to the guidelines set forth by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Integrated residents receive broad training in general surgery, ENT, orthopedics, ophthalmology, dermatology, burn surgery, oculoplastics, and more during their first three years, with rotations with the plastic surgery team throughout. The clinical rotations for the last three years of training cover four hospitals, providing residents with a comprehensive spectrum of plastic surgery.
Additionally, we offer four fellowships in microvascular reconstructive surgery, craniofacial surgery, gender affirming surgery, and orthodontic craniofacial surgery. These one-year fellowships offer comprehensive training with a large clinical volume and research opportunities.
HISTORY OF THE DIVISION OF PLASTIC & RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY
The Division of Plastic Surgery has a long and renowned history at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center. In 1967, Clifford C. Snyder, M.D. was recruited from the University of Miami to begin a Division of Plastic Surgery at the School of Medicine. The Division grew from one person to three and developed an international reputation in mandibular distraction, microsurgery, hand reconstruction, treatment of venomous snake bites, bladder extrophy, and treatment of children with indeterminate sexual formation. Since that time, Drs. Graham Lister and W. Bradford Rockwell expanded the program to provide plastic surgical and reconstructive surgical techniques to patients at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, Primary Children's Medical Center, and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Jay Agarwal now leads the Division which consists of clinical faculty, research faculty, integrated residents, fellows and advanced practice clinicians. The Division is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art patient care using the latest surgical and technological advances, educating learners through clinical experience, didactic lectures and simulation labs and conducting cutting edge research focused on advancing the field of plastic surgery.

Each donation, no matter the amount, is necessary and greatly appreciated.
The reasons for making a gift are personal and varied, ranging from gratitude for treatment from a health care provider, wanting to leave a legacy for future patients to benefit from, honoring a loved one’s memory or simply to make a charitable contribution.
