Before joining the SPARC team, Joshua worked as a conservation biologist in Oregon, Utah, and Turkey. There, he studied the distribution and movement of mammals and birds and how their populations are reacting to anthropogenic change. He earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of Utah in 2013. After several years working in the field, he returned to Utah and completed a PhD in 2019. When not working with data, Joshua likes to go trail running, birding, and camping with his partner Anna.
Rebecca joined SPARC in 2022, with a background in social services, health research & informatics. Rebecca received her Master’s in Social Welfare, with an emphasis on Management & Planning, from UC, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from Western Kentucky University. Her interests include poetry, music, food and travel.
Laura joined SPARC in March 2024. She obtained a master's degree in software development from the University of Utah and a master's degree in energy, environmental & chemical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. Laura is interested in the application of data science in healthcare. She is an alto and erhuist and has been in choirs and orchestras for over ten years.
