Before joining the SPARC team, Joshua worked as a conservation biologist in Oregon, Utah, and Turkey. There, he studied the distribution and movement of mammals and birds and how their populations are reacting to anthropogenic change. He earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of Utah in 2013. After several years working in the field, he returned to Utah and completed a PhD in 2019. When not working with data, Joshua likes to go trail running, birding, and camping with his partner Anna.
Rebecca joined SPARC in 2022, with a background in social services, health research & informatics. Rebecca received her Master’s in Social Welfare, with an emphasis on Management & Planning, from UC, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from Western Kentucky University. Her interests include poetry, music, food and travel.
Niraj earned his M.S. in Information Systems and Assurance from the University of New Mexico. He enjoys all types of data-related work — data wrangling, data manipulation, analysis, and working with data structures. Niraj especially enjoys health care and sports data.
Niraj grew up in Nepal, and in his free time, he likes to hike, listen to music, play soccer, and watch Chelsea FC play.
Nate interned with SPARC in 2019 and began as a full-time database analyst in 2021. He obtained a B.S. in Computer Science with a Bioinformatics emphasis in 2021 from Brigham Young University. He has always enjoyed computers and Biology, and he enjoys merging these interests in his role with SPARC. He specializes in data mining and back-end programming. In his spare time, he enjoys playing board games and making music.
