
James Sun is excited to join the Section of Cutaneous and Sarcoma Oncology. He earned his undergraduate degree in music and violin performance from Stony Brook University and received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical School. Prior to joining Huntsman Cancer Institute, Dr. Sun was a Complex General Surgical Oncology fellow at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, where he served as the Chief Administrative Fellow. He also completed a research fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center with a focus on cutaneous oncology prior to completing a general surgery residency at Case Western Reserve University/UH Cleveland Medical Center. Over the course of his career, Dr. Sun has achieved numerous honors in teaching and research. In addition to presenting his research nationally and internationally, Dr. Sun has published over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and numerous textbook chapters. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys spending time with his wife and newborn son. He enjoys playing board games and playing the guitar to keep up his musical skills. He and his family are very excited to move to Utah and join the faculty at Huntsman Cancer Institute.
