Opioid use and abuse is an important subject in healthcare and public health, and as such a primary concern for national bodies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Public Health Professor Christy Porucznik, PhD, MSPH has been named Chair of the Workgroup formed by the CDC to consider revision to the CDC Opioid Prescribing Guidelines. She served on the original workgroup that developed the Guidelines and as Chair for the original Guideline review in 2015. This appointment demonstrates Dr. Porucznik’s national reputation as a researcher who can also lead a national panel of expert stakeholders in a broad and highly visible topic area.
