Division of Public Health
Welcome to the Division of Public Health
The public health system is facing some of its greatest challenges. Meeting these challenges requires new approaches to how critical public health services are effectively delivered, particularly to high-risk communities. We are focusing on ways to meet these challenges through:
- Creating a learning community where everyone belongs and can succeed in pursuing their educational goals;
- Providing technical assistance to communities, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations to improve public health; and
- Continuing vital research to address current and emergent public health issues.
We are committed to providing an educational program that fosters critical thinking, creative problem solving, and practical skills to support public health actions in a variety of organizational settings.
Our mission is to protect and promote the health of communities in Utah and globally through high-quality scholarship and research. We encourage you to join us in this effort.

The Power of Public Health Professionals Public health people are inherently hopeful. We wouldn’t have chosen this field if we didn’t think we could make a difference, and that hasn’t changed. You still have the ability to affect every person you meet, today, tomorrow, and every day after that. Christy Porucznik, PhD |
