The Mountain West OSHA Education Center, part of the DFPM-affiliated Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (RMCOEH), was recently reviewed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Directorate of Training Education—a review that highly praised the efforts of Mountain West in maintaining quality training despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The review praises Mountain West’s innovation and flexibility, noting that significant technological efforts went into Mountain West’s adaptation of their courses in order to provide synchronous delivery of courses to students. These efforts were so successful that their model of remote training was made available to OSHA training centers across the country. Further, OSHA praised Mountain West increasing the awareness of training centers in the area and assisting curriculum development efforts for COVID-19 response training in Utah and Nevada.
“It was a unique year,” says Diane Johnson, PhD, Education Director for Mountain West, about OSHA’s praise-filled review. “I really appreciate the work of my great team, Luz Dominguez, Crystal Beall, and Shalese Ramirez, with exceptional support from Dan Clawson and Julie Fryer.”
