The Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing is an global community of nurses dedicated to the practice and art of healthcare in their community of practice. Each year, University of Utah’s Gamma Rho chapter of the organization celebrates exceptional members of their organization who have demonstrated leadership and excellence in their nursing duties. And this year, Frances Johnson, DNP, assistant professor of family medicine, was recognized in the awarding of a 2022 Sigma Theta Tau Gamma Rho Excellence in Practice Award.
To receive the award, Dr. Johnson was nominated by her peers, who praised her kindness and compassion in the clinical realm as well as her communication and listening skills. Dr. Johnson’s track history of mentoring trainees and residents was also a large part of her nomination, as was her active participation in DFPM’s Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion committee and leadership of DFPM’s Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs).
Dr. Johnson received her award at the Honor Society’s Induction Ceremony, which was held this year on November 10th.
