Dr. Yoon Highlighted by Faculty Banner Project

If you have been driving to the U’s campus recently, you may have seen a bit of DFPM on your way: the face of Sarang K. Yoon, DO, MOH, assistant professor in the OEH division. Dr. Yoon is being honored as part of the Office for Academic Affairs Faculty Banner Project, a yearly effort to highlight excellent U faculty by featuring them on a series of banners lining streets near the University.

Faculty in the Banner Project this year were selected due to the quality and impact of their research, and Dr. Yoon joins 24 other faculty members from disciplines across campus. Dr. Yoon’s selection came as a result of her groundbreaking examination into the efficacy of COVID-19 and influenza vaccines, research which made a substantial contribution to the world’s COVID-19 response and continues to have an impact on how governments and other groups plan for and approach disease outbreaks.

Faculty in the project were selected through recommendations given by college deans and the Office of the Vice President for Research, groups that see hundreds of research projects each year. Dr. Yoon’s selection as one of the 25 top research faculty at the U underscores the high relevance of her work and the quality of her scholarship.

Dr. Yoon’s banners were installed in early May, and can be seen on South Temple and University Street in Salt Lake City.

"I'm honored for the recognition and thank the department, OEH division, and all my colleagues for their support in various ways and forms," said Dr. Yoon of the honor. "Furthermore, I'm grateful for the RECOVER and PROTECT research team, what an awesome group for individuals! I'm really glad I had this opportunity to contribute to science and public health."
