Celebrating the Future of Family Medicine
On April 17, 2025, the Medical Student Education team gathered at the University Guest House to celebrate the 15 graduating medical students who matched into a Family Medicine residency program.
Jake Momberger, a fourth-year medical student, was awarded the Utah Academy of Family Physicians F. Marian Bishop Award of Excellence. This prestigious award, named after the first woman to lead a department at the University of Utah School of Medicine, is presented each year to a graduating senior who has matched into a Family Medicine residency. The recipient is selected by fellow fourth-year students who are also matched into Family Medicine residencies and is recognized for outstanding leadership in activities and academic achievement.
Dr. Nasser from St. Luke’s Clinic in Boise was honored with the University of Utah Department of Family and Preventive Medicine’s Urban Precepting Site of the Year award. Dr. Powers from the Community Health Centers received the Rural and Underserved Precepting Site of the Year award. These recognitions are based on student feedback and the number of students precepted at each site, as determined by the University’s Family Medicine clerkship team.
Former University of Utah Family Medicine Residency graduate, Dr. Saphu Pradhan, delivered an inspiring keynote address. It was a wonderful evening spent celebrating the graduates and the dedicated preceptors who helped shape their journeys.
