Global Health Certificate Overview

Red Line

The Global Health Certificate prepares students to collaborate with health professionals worldwide to address emerging global health issues. It equips them to tackle health issues at home and abroad and maintain the health and safety of our global population. Additionally, the certificate provides the opportunity to learn from health professionals worldwide.

Approved Electives (6 Credits Minimum)

Students will select a minimum of two electives (6 credits) from the lists below. Students have two options: they can either take 3 credit hours from the general elective list and 3 credit hours from the quantitative elective list, or they can take all 6 credit hours from the general elective list.

NOTE: Students enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral program work with their faculty advisor/committee chair to select and obtain approval of their elective courses. Students can meet with their academic advisor for guidance on suggested electives, but only a faculty advisor/committee chair can approve elective courses before registration.

    To apply for a graduate certificate at the University of Utah, please follow the steps outlined below. 

    Once the following steps have been completed, applicants will receive notification via email of the final admissions decision.

    International applicants, please note:

    • International students must hold an H visa to be eligible for the certificate program, unless they are enrolled in a specified graduate program. F1 or J1 visas are only applicable if the student is currently admitted to a graduate program. Students who hold an F1 or J1 visa and are not admitted to a graduate program are not eligible for the certificate programs. Please direct all questions regarding international student eligibility for graduate certificates to International Student and Scholar Services.
