She assists and supports all faculty and staff with any scheduling needs and day to day tasks. Marianne comes to us from the clinical side, working as a Dialysis Technician for the past 8 years. She loves to read, bake and enjoys the chaos of her family life, including her husband, 6 children and their spouses, 2 border collies, an African Grey Parrot, a Bearded Dragon and 2 cats.

Crystal is the Special Events Coordinator in the Continuing Education program. She is directly involved with assisting and monitoring OSHA-approved outreach trainers through the Mountain West OSHA Education Center. Crystal has been with the department since 2010.

Andrew is the new Associate Director of Clinical Education and Operations for our Family Medicine and Physician Assistant operations. He has been staff with the University of Utah in multiple Departments since 2010. Andrew earned both his bachelor’s degree in Operations Management and his MBA from the University of Utah. In addition to his University of Utah management and leadership experience, he is bringing his 5 years of experience as a former active duty Marine. Andrew has an extensive background in finance and accounting, operations management, and basic and clinical research.

Rachel has a M.S. in Environmental Policy and Natural Resource Management with 10+ years of experience in the environmental field.

Holly earned her MBA at the University of Utah. Before her employment with the University, she worked at Select Health for 10 years.

Kitzia is from Acapulco, Mexico and holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Economics from Jönköping International Business School.

Leslie Cepeda

Leslie is the Academic Program Manager for the UPAP didactic team at the Salt Lake City campus. Leslie works closely with UPAP faculty, staff, and instructors to address Salt Lake City student needs during their didactic year. Leslie graduated from the U with a B.A. in Anthropology Health Emphasis and a minor in Human Biology in 2015, and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership & Policy in 2019. She has worked at the U in various roles as a Student Success Advocate, Undergraduate Research Advisor, Graduate Assistant in Housing & Residential Education, and College Access Advisor. Thus, Leslie has experienced working with students from diverse backgrounds and different stages in their educational journey. These experiences together with her research, community engagement, and leadership involvement have helped her shaped her student-centered approach to her work in higher education: she focuses on being culturally responsive to the stories and strengths that each student brings to the U.

Jesse Cormier-Adams

Jesse serves as the Executive Assistant to DFPM Chair Dr. Kolawole Okuyemi. Demonstrating a career-spanning preference for working in the nonprofit sector, Jesse has worked in the senior services industry and academic and cancer research settings. He possesses extensive administrative experience emphasizing dynamic problem solving supported by a robust critical thinking and communication skill set. Born in Maryland and a longtime California resident, Jesse moved to Utah two years ago. Jesse graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a BA in English (Comparative Literature). His interests range from reading, writing, and playing tabletop roleplaying games and chess to running, strength training, and other outdoor activities.

Ashley Crompton

Ashley manages the daily aspects of the Medical Student Education Program, including the 3rd year clerkship, 4th year Sub-Internship and other 4th year electives. She helps to obtain and manage all adjunct faculty appointments for preceptors as well as affiliation agreements with clinical sites. In addition, she oversees the Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG). She also serves as a coordinator for the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship. Ashley has a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Utah and has been working in healthcare for the past 17 years.

Doris Dalton

Doris develops and implements the process for student selection to the Physician Assistant Program from the application level, candidate interviewing and admission offers, and facilitating transition of the incoming class. She is a University of Utah alumna and has served multiple roles in national service to the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) with CASPA Advisory and Enhancement, Recruitment and Admissions Council, and the Diversity Inclusion Mission Advancement Commission. She received the PAEA Staff Award in 2017. In addition, she serves the Department Education Mission by facilitating collaboration between its four Divisions, for which a highlight is the annual Education, Research, and Community Engagement Summit, a research poster event. In her spare time, Doris enjoys, cooking, film, hiking with her dog, and travel adventures with her spouse.

She is responsible for the administration and management of all Public Health and Occupational Environmental Health program operations including education, budgeting, financial operations, development, communication, and human resources. Courtney earned her MBA from Concordia University Chicago. She has several years of experience in management, leadership, administrative duties, academic advising, public relations and event coordinating.

Emilee Eden

Emilee manages the research team at the Rocky Mountain Center. She aids in compiling evidence-based practice guidelines for the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), training of new hires, assisting with writing scientific manuscripts and grants, and oversees project management. She also is the program coordinator for the Targeted Research Training program. She helps with program data collection and tracking, revising TRT curriculum, and acts as a liaison between the program director and PhD and post-doctoral program students. Emilee earned her Master’s degree in public health from the University of Utah in August of 2017.

Julie has worn several hats during her 30+ years with the department. She has been the purchaser for Central Administration, with the buying of computers, equipment and software for the IT team. She worked with the IT team for more then 15 years, troubleshooting, configuring and installing programs and software. Julie was the main contact person for building maintenance and made the payments to all contractors that facilitated the building. She currently maintains all department and division webpages. Julie has received a Web Design Certificate, Web Development Certificate, and Web Design Tools Certificate from Continuing Education at the University of Utah.

Trained as a developmental-clinical psychologist, Allyson’s overall research interest is to examine and address sleep-health disparities in Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander populations within a community-based participatory model. Her primary research goals are to identify bidirectional sleep-health relationships within a cultural framework, develop clinical tools that promote sleep-health risk prevention, and decrease the high prevalence of cardiometabolic disease that are often associated with sleep disturbance beginning at a young age through multi-generational treatment methods.

I graduated from The University of Texas – Arlington with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Economics and Finance in 2020. I had the opportunity to move to Ogden, Utah in January 2021 to work at Weber State University as a College Access Advisor supporting underprivileged Jr. High students with key steps in the postsecondary application and financial aid process. Upon moving to Salt Lake City, I worked at a small private equity administration firm as a Treasury Analyst preparing high-value wire transfers and establishing a knowledge base to document department functions and best practices for client-facing teams.
I’m excited to work as part of the DFPM finance team to jointly establish a Payroll Office with standardized processes and procedures that will support faculty, staff and programs across the department. In addition, continue to build on a foundation that tracks, monitors, and reports on DFPM’s personnel expenses throughout all 4 divisions.

Mandy is the Program Manager and Clinical Coordinator for the Clinical Team at the Salt Lake Campus. She is primarily responsible for Recruitment and Retention for Clinical sites & Preceptors. She maintains Affiliation Agreements, is responsible for the day to day management of the clinical rotation schedule, and oversees student scholarships. Mandy loves to write YA Speculative Fiction and is slowly working on an English MFA in Creative Writing. She also enjoys playing the piano, singing, playing the flute, hiking and biking with her family, and travelling the world. Mandy is from Tucson, Arizona. She graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Arizona and even though she loves the mountains and the change of seasons in Utah, an Arizona sunset will always take her breath away.

As a public health professional with a clinical background, Shahpar is interested in improved outcomes for sexual and reproductive health. Her overarching research goal is to implement and promote evidence-based policies that decrease infant/maternal mortality, prevent diseases, increase access to reproductive health services. Shahpar also engages in research that helps women and couples advocate for autonomy in making sound reproductive health/family planning decisions. Currently, she is working on a project that evaluates the menstrual cycle characteristics of women without any known subfertility, women with endometriosis, and women with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Kevin is the Administrative Program Coordinator for the Occupational Medicine residency training program. His duties include assisting with recruitment of applicants, matriculation of candidates, and management of resident activities through the duration of the residency as well as after graduation. Additionally, Kevin documents and reports on the ACGME and RMCOEH grant program requirements and arranges the Residency Advisory Committee meetings and communicates residency activities with occupational health professionals in the community. Before that, I worked for Vail Resorts and Park City Mountain Resort as a reservations assistant manager. I love spending time with my husband, camping, biking, and exploring new areas.

Besides working for the DFPM, he is also working on a series of guidebooks for the Wasatch Mountains area.

Rebecca is responsible for coordination of graduate studies, including overseeing graduate degree records, reporting to the office of graduate studies, providing graduate verifications to providers, and coordinating annual master’s projects. In addition, she manages the schedule of the division chief, prepares grant reports, assists with weekly tutorial groups and organizes clinical practicum. Rebecca has two Bachelor degrees from the University of Utah in Urban Planning and Environmental Studies.

Cayla serves as the coordinator for faculty recruitment and onboarding and coordinates events for the residency program. Cayla is from Tampa, Florida and holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida.

Camie is Associate Director of the Utah Center for Promotion of Work Equity Research (U-POWER), a Center of Excellence in Total Worker Health supported by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). As Associate Director, Camie manages the daily operations of U-POWER, including communications, fiscal management, administration, and project management. She also manages the Research Pilot Project Program (RPPP) and supports U-POWER’s Outreach Core in community outreach, training, and social media. Camie also provides technical writing assistance to U-POWER investigators and other members of U-POWER’s community of practice. She holds a PhD in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Utah and draws on her expertise in storytelling to highlight the need for safe, healthy, and equitable work.

Chin-Yin Shih

Chin-Yin is responsible for planning, organizing, directing all aspects pertaining to administrative functions for two research projects in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine: Utah Advanced Course on Mentoring, Leadership, and Research on Cancer-Related Health Disparities and HRSA-funded Maternal Health Capacity Building for the Medically Underserved in Rural and Urban Utah. Prior to joining the University of Utah, Chin-Yin worked at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, Center for Health Equity, to help improve access for individuals to receive care as well as working to reduce disparities in cancer screenings. Chin-Yin has years of experience working in the social services field and has a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the National Taipei University and a Master's degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University.

Additionally, she helps with the study abroad program (BPCCDP-India) run by the division in India. Kyra is the Study Abroad Coordinator for the Division of Public Health . She manages and coordinates learning abroad programs and global health activities for the Division. She works with students, faculty directors and community partners on all aspects of the learning abroad programs from marketing, recruitment, budgets, student admissions and advising, visas, program logistics, and updating website content. Before coming to the U, Kyra lived in Oregon and California, doing community and volunteer engagement for nonprofits, and advising college students organizers. She loves traveling, reading, and eating.

Melanie develops the department’s research infrastructure and directs central pre- and post-award operations. She works closely with the Vice Chair for Research and the Research and Innovation Committee to set strategic goals and success metrics for research activities. She joined the University of Utah in 2016 and has worked in project management and proposal development, most recently in the VPR’s research development office, and has significant experience with NIH and NSF. Melanie holds a PhD in German Studies from Cornell University and a certificate in Editing from the University of Chicago Graham School.

Karen is the coordinator for the UPAP didactic team at the St. George campus. She has worked with the University of Utah for the past 18 years in the Containing Education and Community Enrichment (CECE) department and more specifically in the Professional Education department for the past 13 years managing the Corporate Employee Universities and Government (City Recorders and Treasurers) Academies. This opportunity has allowed her to make friends in almost every city in the state. Karen works closely with UPAP faculty, staff and instructors to address St. George student needs during their didactic year and clinical year.

Division of Public Health
Emily is the Administrative Assistant for the Division of Public Health. She provides complex administrative support for the Division Chief, faculty, and staff. She is also the main contact for Public Health events. She has several years of experience in providing administrative support to upper level management, operations, and accounting.
