  • About Me

Working as a physician has been my childhood dream, hoping to be able to help people as they faced illness and all the challenges that come with it. Before medical school, I worked in an oncologist's office as a CNA and data manager, and I quickly fell in love with oncology patients. After residency here at the University of Utah, I was fortunate enough to work as a hospitalist on the Bone Marrow Transplant service here at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital. Outside of work, I am married to my soulmate and we are raising five amazing children, ranging from ages 4 to 14.

    Interests & Hobbies

I mostly enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, whatever we may be doing together as a family. Going to the movie theater and getting a bucket of popcorn is a family favorite. It's difficult finding time for hobbies, but I do love skiing, tennis, golf, hiking, camping, listening to music, attending performances at the Eccles and Hale Center Theatres, dates with my wife, eating good food, attending church, and cheering on my favorite sports teams, especially college athletics.

    Why Utah?

Being a graduate of the University of Utah's residency program and proud employee of the Huntsman Cancer Institute for so long, I could not have pictured myself wanting to go anywhere else. Utah's faculty are great mentors, clinicians, and researchers, who have built a culture of support and respect amongst themselves, fellows, and nursing staff. As a hospitalist, I got to know many faculty members, and developed great respect for them. I also knew many of our fellows, and saw how much they enjoyed their learning experience and collegiality. I am so grateful for our faculty's encouragement and how they have advocated for me to achieve my goals as a clinician and researcher. In addition, Utah cannot be beat for outdoor recreation and quality of life. There is a reason people train here, and then do not want to leave.
