The Department of Internal Medicine is dedicated to providing resources for our faculty to thrive in their roles as clinicians, researchers, educators, mentors, and leaders. We offer these resources through our faculty development program, led by Dr. Michael Rubin, the Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development. Dr. Rubin's priority and focus is the academic success of every faculty member in the department, which he aims to achieve through the following mission and vision.

Mission

Our Mission is to facilitate the success of our faculty, and by extension our department, in areas including faculty advancement, mentoring, leadership development, and satisfaction, and to elevate both the standard of excellence and the local and national reputation of the department.

Vision

Our vision is a Department of Medicine with an exceptional, diverse, and engaged faculty of the highest national stature, and strong, recognized track records of: faculty success and satisfaction; leadership throughout and beyond the institution; and recruitment of superb external faculty due to our reputation as a top destination for academic internal medicine.
