Conferences & Grand Rounds
Our weekly grand rounds bring nationally renowned clinicians and researchers to our campus to help train faculty, residents, fellows, and community physicians. We also host numerous conferences throughout the region to provide education on a broad range of topics geared specifically towards internal medicine and its sub-specialties. More>>
Internal Medicine Residency Program
Our ACGME accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program is vigorous and well respected, and is nationally recognized for a unique blend of consistency and innovation. Training sites include University Hospital, Intermountain Medical Center Hospital, Huntsman Cancer Institute, and the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center. Approximately 120 total residents are enrolled in our program, and as a group, graduates from our program score in the upper 10 percent on the American Board of Internal Medicine Certifying Exam. Med-Peds Residency Program
Our four-year, medicine-pediatric residency program is designed to provide a comprehensive educational experience in both internal Medicine and pediatrics. Our ACGME accredited program is one of only a few combined med-peds programs in the western United States. Graduates will be able to function as generalists in practice or in academic settings and will also be sufficiently prepared to enter fellowship training in areas shared by the two disciplines.
Our program’s structure allows the resident to meet subspecialty and core requirements, while also allowing freedom to formulate their schedule to suit their individual needs and career goals. More>>

Physician-Scientist Program
We have combined our strong clinical training program with a nationally recognized research program to offer a unique curriculum specifically developed for the training of physician scientists. Our Physician Scientist Training Program incorporates both clinical training and postdoctoral research to produce clinically trained scientists with interests ranging from basic to translational and clinically oriented research. Utah Stimulating Access to Research in Residency (Utah StARR)
Utah StARR is designed to prepare outstanding residents for a career in academic medicine and clinical investigation by providing them with opportunities to learn and practice clinical, transitional, health service and community-engaged research skills during their residency training. Utah StARR will provide an early "on-ramp" to research careers for competitive academic faculty positions. Participating residency programs include Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Combined Medicine-Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology. The program main components are: career mentoring, individual development plan, non-degree coursework, research seminars, grant writing, pre-submission grant review, pre-award support and writing workshops.
