About Me
Shannon grew up in St. Louis, MO. She didn’t go far for undergraduate, studying biochemistry at Rockhurst University in Kansas City. She returned home to attend St. Louis University School of Medicine, where her love of geriatrics, palliative care, and medical education began. She decided on eventually completing both fellowships by way of internal medicine. When it came to choosing a residency, she left the Midwest for the University of California, San Diego. She was chosen as one of the programs chief medical residents, allowing her to make curricular changes and develop educational activities such as the UCSD Geriatrics Escape Room. For geriatrics fellowship, she stayed at UCSD, helping to start a group advanced care-planning program for older adults. While she enjoyed her time near the beach, she is thrilled to be moving to the mountains to be one of the hospice and palliative medicine fellows at the University of Utah, where she can hone her communication skills and continue navigating and preparing older adults for the last stage of life’s journey.
A list of her favorite things includes yoga, hiking, and reading. She loves hanging out with her husband, James, and Shiba Inu pup, Michio.
