  • About Me

    I grew up in Polson, Montana. Like most Montanans, I grew up loving the outdoors. I obtained my undergraduate from the University of Wyoming in microbial ecology and geography, with my research emphasis in freshwater microbiomes. After college, I chose to travel and work as a scuba instructor, but my family brought me back to Montana. While working as a manager for my parents’ landscaping business, I started volunteering on the ambulance. I fell in love with medicine and serving my community, which is what drove me to go to medical school. I graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine WWAMI program.

    Rural and underserved medicine, community advocacy and social determinants of health, suicide prevention and resiliency building

    Interests & Hobbies

    Fly fishing, trail running, open water swimming, anything that involves exercising or cuddling with my dogs, playing hide and seek with my nieces and nephews

    Why Utah?

    Growing up on the Flathead Reservation in Montana has made me passionate about rural medicine and working with underserved populations. I chose to train at the University of Utah for many reasons. First, they have very strong Pediatric and Internal Medicine programs with a large breadth of patient populations as they are a referral center for a significant portion of the Mountain region of the US. Second, it was very evident in the interactions I had during interview season and beyond that the culture is laid back, yet very supportive and adaptive to my needs for training to be a rural physician. I am excited to be the first trainee to go through the Med-Peds Rural Pathway! Finally, the people and the program support a healthy lifestyle, with lots of opportunities to do the outdoor things that I love.
