Research Interests
My research interests are focused on cardiopulmonary and muscle interactions during exercise. My dissertation was focused on respiratory muscle fatigability and differences in lung and chest wall compliance in trained breath-hold divers compared to non-diver controls. My other previous work has been focused on interactions between agonist and antagonist respiratory muscle groups during and following loaded breathing exercise. My current project seeks to examine causes for acceleration of muscle fatigue development under hypoxic conditions. My future goals aim to continue to explore both peripheral and central fatigue and the cardiovascular, respiratory and muscle system interactions surrounding fatigue development in healthy and diseased populations.
