The John A. Moran Eye Center at University of Utah Health offers a one-year Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus Fellowship. We accept one new fellow each year. Coming application and interview dates have yet to be announced.

As with most ophthalmology fellowship programs, ours is not an approved PGY-5 ACGME position. It is, however, affiliated with an ACGME accredited ophthalmology residency program, and is AUPO compliant. The University offers AUPO compliant malpractice insurance as well as medical, dental, and other benefits.

The Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus division at The John A. Moran Eye Center offers an intensive one-year clinical fellowship, which provides comprehensive training in both the medical and surgical management of a wide variety of pediatric ophthalmology & strabismus conditions. In addition, the fellow will have an opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical trials, investigator-sponsored studies and epidemiologic projects, and formulate study in an area of particular interest. Fellows can, therefore, expect to see conditions in the vision development of infancy and childhood, neonatal ophthalmology including retinopathy of prematurity, genetics, electrodiagnostic testing, ocular manifestations, pediatric ocular trauma to name just a few.

You must attend a scheduled orientation where we will explain in detail all benefits of the program as well as departmental policies and procedures and requirements. You will be required to obtain a Utah Physicians License, a Utah Controlled Substance License, and a fee exempt DEA license. You will also be required to obtain privileges with the University of Utah HospitalPrimary Children's Hospital, and Veterans Affairs Medical Center. We will work closely with you to meet these requirements.
