How Does Hwang Lab Research Help Patients?

Understanding the Eye's Vitreous

Human Eye Anatomy graphic

The Hwang Laboratory targets fundamental questions about how the vitreous changes over time in normal development, normal aging, and disease. By exploring the basic mechanisms responsible for vitreous extracellular matrix structure, the lab hopes to open up entirely new therapeutic approaches for treating and preventing vitreoretinal disease in children and older adults.
