About Our Research
Selective attention and working memory play a profound role in many of the tasks of everyday life; from driving a car to reading to holding a conversation in a crowded room, these cognitive abilities are an integral part of all our goal-oriented interactions with the world around us.
The ultimate goal of research from the laboratory of Behrad Noudoost, MD, PhD, is to understand the neural basis of selective attention and working memory. In particular, the lab studies the role of prefrontal control of visual cortical signals in these cognitive processes using such methods as electrophysiological recordings, electrical stimulation, and pharmacological manipulation of neural activity.
