Our faculty have excellent research productivity because of the exceptional research resources within our department and the University. On average, our faculty are over twice as productive after joining the faculty than they were prior to being hired.
Building the Next Generation of Leaders
The Department of Orthopaedics has developed a comprehensive faculty development program to provide faculty with the skills to succeed in their careers as orthopaedic leaders. This program collaborates with Executive Education at the Eccles Business School at the University of Utah to incorporate the best resources from across the field of leadership development. It incorporates mentorship from senior faculty at the University of Utah as well as interaction with leaders nationally and internationally through our robust visiting professor program.

Utah is an excellent place to work. Utah has a rapidly growing economy. As compared to national trends we have low unemployment and continued job and wage growth. Our population continues to grow from both from net migration and natural growth. There is continued construction in Salt Lake Valley, and our housing prices are growing less than inflation. Homeownership and personal income change are well above average national rates.

Our faculty live in beautiful Utah, with convenient access to a cosmopolitan downtown, an international airport, and endless alpine wilderness offering some of the nation’s best hiking, skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, canyoneering, and off-roading. They also live within driving distance of eleven national parks, showcasing some of the most unique, spectacular, and diverse landscapes in the country, from red-rock deserts to soaring mountain ranges.
