Primary Children’s Hospital is an extraordinary place with a unique location in the center of the Mountain West servicing children from the five surrounding states and beyond. This, along with the high standards for excellence in teaching and supportive learning environment has created an educational training experience that surpassed all of our expectations. Our residency programs offer ample exposure to both common and rare pediatric disorders, incredible clinical teaching in both inpatient and outpatient settings, an innovative and personalized residency curriculum, and numerous research, academic, and advocacy opportunities. Graduates from our program are completely prepared to enter into a successful career in general pediatrics or continue their training in a fellowship program of their choice. One of the most valuable aspects of our program is the relationships that the residents develop with each other. We are privileged to work with intelligent, hard working people who strive to get the most out of each and every patient encounter while still enjoying life outside of residency. The abundance of outdoor recreational activities that Salt Lake City has to offer is unparalleled. Residents enjoy a multitude of activities outside of work, including skiing, hiking, mountain biking, summer concerts in the park, festivals, sporting events, farmers markets and much more. About Me
One of the many reasons I chose to pursue a career in pediatrics is the culture of sincere humanistic compassion and altruism among its practitioners. I was initially drawn to the University of Utah because everyone I talked with here seemed to have these same priorities and made a point of emphasizing them in their practice. Since starting, not only have I found this to be 100% true in my co-residents, but also in every one of the attendings, fellows, nurses, and ancillary staff I have had the pleasure to meet. The culture here truly makes this place feel like home and the people feel like family. While a great work environment is essential, so to is a great outside-of-work environment. I love living and working mere minutes from mountains, lakes, parks, hikes, restaurants, and countless other outdoor and indoor activities that my wife, puppy, and I can enjoy in our free time. Some of my top favorite spots so far include hikes at Donut Falls, Neff’s Canyon, and Mirror Lake, walks at Liberty Park, and gelato at Sweetaly!
About Me
I chose Utah for the people and the location! I loved how supportive and friendly the faculty and staff were, and felt that the program genuinely cared about me and my wellbeing! I also wanted a program that had a large catchment area, so I knew I would be exposed to a wide variety of disease presentations to fully prepare me for my career. Plus, my husband and I fell in love with Utah when we visited on vacation, and knew we wanted to continue to explore it! I love being able to take my dog on a hike in the Wasatch Mountains after work, or pop over to one of the many National Parks on a golden weekend!
